I won the baby lock Melody at Amy’s Creative Side Blogger’s Quilt Festival

My morning started with checking the news and weather and then I went onto my blog’s dashboard. A very nice offer was there from Susan over at Desert Sky Quilts. Susan was offering to send me some reproduction era fabric scraps and pieces for a quilt that I wanted to make. How sweet! She said to email her.

When I went to my email, there was a mail from Amy Ellis at Amy’s Creative Side. The header said “Bloggers Quilt Festival Winner“!

Now, please understand that I immediately knew that meant from the random drawings. While I entered two quilts in the festival, and they were nice, they were not winner-quilts. I opened the email and sure enough, my number came up for one of the random prizes.

I went to the website and checked out the Viewer’s Choice winners, and then scrolled down through the rest of the category winners to look for the random prize winners. I did intend to visit the category winners later on but I hadn’t even finished my first cup of coffee and so far, half-awake, I’d come across a blogger offering me some fabric and now this! So I saw a list with many names and in those names was a Deborah. I spell mine Debra but I assumed that it was me, and that I’d won the pack of Aurifil thread!

I was very excited. Many quilters rave about the thread but I had not used it yet. It’s a bit pricey…this pack was worth 50.00! Back to Susan at Desert Sky Quilts. She donates time and effort and talent to work on quilts for our veterans…there is more about the project on her website. My son’s a vet. I knew immediately that I’d mail her, accept her offer of sending a bit of fabric, and let her know that I won thread and would send her half in return.

I mailed a fellow blogger who quilts and had quilts in the festival and told her that I’d won thread. She later congratulated me on winning the sewing machine. What?!? :)

I went back.  If you go HERE, at Amy’s, you might see why I missed it. Winning the machine was listed separately. On my first cup of coffee, I’d scrolled right by it.

I did not win the thread. I won the baby lock Melody at Amy’s Creative Side Blogger’s Quilt Festival, to my amazement.

I don’t go to the casino, I don’t play the lottery, and the only time I buy raffle tickets is for a charity. So winning things is uncommon to me….I hadn’t even thought about winning that sewing machine. Amy said in a prior post that this is the sewing machine that she uses.

No offence to Singer, or my Singer Confidence machine, but I am very excited about winning this baby lock! :)

Thank you SO much, Amy Ellis, for organizing this festival, and thank you to all of the sponsors and especially baby lock.

If you have not visited this festival yet, there is so much time, talent, beauty and variety there…each blogger’s entry telling a story about her quilt; it’s amazing. You will enjoy it. And if you quilt but have not entered anything there yet, there is both a fall and spring festival.

Hoping to get this into the hoop soon, and have the hand-quilting finished up in time for the spring festival :)

And God bless the mothers who send their dear children off to duty in dangerous places. Thank you for visiting the Garden Spot. Congratulations on the Baby Lock. You will create many lovely things, I am sure. May I leave a bit of a hint for you? Do you have your computer backed up save your precious photos and texts? There are a couple of ways to save incase your computer should crash: to a flash drive or to an external drive or even the Cloud.
