Slow Stitching, Twins & Dogs

We had a round of snow early Friday morning….enough for a school delay. Before my DIL brought the kids down to me, she took this photo of the twins.

How cute are these shirts!

For those of you that may have twins in your family I asked where she’d purchased them ( if online somewhere ) but they were custom made by a friend from church.

My youngest son’s birthday is on Sunday and we’ll all go out to dinner. On Friday night he went out with friends and left Koopa here. On Saturday afternoon the middle son, DIL, and the kids took Koopa and their dog Merle ( both are young ) a few blocks down to the fields behind the American Legion to let them run. They have some launcher for balls and the dogs run and run and run but in this case, my DIL sent a photo of them attempting to play tug of war with a “stick” that might have been a wee bit too big for them :)

( This is the same area that I showed not too long ago which was flooded / HERE )

While Koopa and Merle play non-stop when they are together, my dogs are old and he’s very adaptable. He just cuddles up. Here, he and Jugsy are snuggled up in a patch of sunlight in the dining room.

They were at my feet when I was sewing at the dining room table. I finished up two more Little Baskets, using Angela’s  Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month suggestion.

I generally try to join up with others on Sundays at Kathy’s Quilts where she hosts Slow Sunday Stitching.  There’s a nice variety of handwork to view and enjoy every Sunday, ranging from quilting activities to embroidery, cross stitch, knitting, etc.

I have a number of things that I can work on. I started another EPP Starflower, I have an applique block to finish prep work on, and I am ready to move the hoop and mark some more fans on Rose of Sharon in regards to hand quilting, which I’ve not touched for a good week. Hopefully I can work a bit on all of them or at least one, as the mood strikes! :)

Meanwhile, Easter is coming up….if you are planning menus or looking for a special dessert,  here’s one that I have had great success with :)

Twins in the Womb

Twins were talking to each other in their mother’s womb. The sister said to the brother, “I believe there is life after birth.”  Her brother protested vehemently, “no, no, this is all there is. This is a dark and cozy place, and we have nothing else to do but to cling to the cord that feeds us.” The little girl insisted, “There must be something more than this dark place. There must be something else, a place with light where there is freedom to move.” Still she could not convince her twin brother.

After some silence, the sister said hesitantly, “I have something else to say, and I’m afraid you won’t believe that, either, but I think there is a mother.” Her brother became furious. “A mother! he shouted. “What are you talking about , I have never seen a mother, and neither have you. Who put that idea into your head? As I told you, this place is all we have. Why do you always want more? This is not such a bad place, after all. We have all we need, so let’s be content.”

The sister was quite overwhelmed by her brother’s response and for a while didn’t dare say anything more. But she couldn’t let go of her thoughts, and since she had only her twin brother to speak to, she finally said, “Don’t you feel these squeezes every once in a while? They’re quite unpleasant and sometimes even painful.”  “Yes, he answered. “What’s special about that?”  “Well, the sister said, “I think that these squeezes are there to get us ready for another place, much more beautiful than this, where we will see our mother face-to-face.
