Projects Progress & Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Projects Progress ( or lack thereof on some :)

While I’ve been good about keeping up with some of my projects that follow the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month, I’ve lagged behind on this one.  Back in January I chose a block and decided to title the project as “Blend”.

I wanted to do three blocks per month and in the collage below you can see that I made my blue ones.  ( I just pulled the collage from a January post )

Well, the RSC color for February was purple, and March’s is green. And while I did work on some purple and green things, they were not any “Blend” blocks.

Finally I have gotten around to a purple one and quite late, though I had the fabric pulled for three of them ages ago.  And what’s been distracting me so much is the EPP Starflowers project that I’d started on a whim and they are addictive for some reason.  I completed a gold one, have begun connecting some more and am working on another. I’ll probably be working on finishing that one up and possibly more connecting work for Slow Sunday Stitching.

Still, I have some GREEN for this week as well :)   While 3 of the grands had an in-service day at school on Friday, these two did not. Happy St. Patrick’s Day.  Photo courtesy of my DIL prior to school on Friday morning :)

Meanwhile this week we had cold weather and bands of snow showers moving in every day but today! I thought it would be fun to take a look back to other March posts from around this time and found quite the variety in weather and events :)

I found everything from heavy snowfalls to spring weather, puppies to kids to quilting to pretty birds. It was a nice visit.  You can view it all here : THIS MARCH AND A LOOK BACK.

Several projects in progress

I have been working here and there over the last few days on tying the baby quilt and sewing the binding on the Botanical ( previous post ) but I have several projects in progress …the beginning stages that is.

  • The Rainbow Scrap Challenge color suggestion of the month is purple or lavender or a mixture. I started prepping a Starflower in those shades.
  • I finally got around to doing a little applique on an Elizabeth’s Pride block.
  • Fabrics are pulled for some “Blend” blocks for my RSC piecing project this year.
  • A basket in berry / purple shades is prepped.
  • I have added two more connector pieces to the black and grey Starflower.

Also in the previous post, I’d shown that Barb’s fan stencil had arrived. I’ve started using that on my Rose of Sharon hand quilting project.  What I am doing, since I do not have the exact shades of quilting thread for the leaves, stems, and darker flowers, is I am using my regular thread in those sections. I do have a pink shade of quilting thread that I can use in the lighter flowers down the line.

It’s been about 2 weeks or more since I was able to get another hand quilting project ready and I am so happy to have this in the hoop now :)

We’ve had a fresh round of ice, snow, and bitter temperatures so hand quilting and any quilting projects indoors works well with the weather here in Southwestern PA.
