Mid-May This & That

As I was going through photos and thinking to work on a blog post late Friday afternoon, thunder was rumbling in the distance. A brief shower and that was it ( thus far, anyway ). We went through the same pattern yesterday.

I am a firm believer that May and June should be nice and balmy with temperatures no higher than 70 degrees. I should not have to swelter in close to 90 degree weather for days on end Mid-May.  Well too bad…that’s how it has been around here lately :)  I had to watch the grands for awhile on Thursday and I almost jumped in with my clothes on :)

The last week or so has been full of ‘babysitting’ here and there…a sleepover, picking Brent up after school…going down for an hour or so when needed ; what-have-you.

Mothers Day weekend had us at a work party in regards to the boys dads’ house on Saturday and then a highlight of Sunday was when friends came over with their two children and their new baby…just four days old! So precious.

It was not all that long ago that I finished up my Stars and Spools quilt and it has gotten plenty of use since then.

“AND that is exactly just where I want that dog”, says Kanga….”Sleeping and not chasing ME around”

With the leg injury that I had awhile back, I had to take it easy and given that we had so much rain over the last two months, the weeds in my garden area out back ( and everywhere that I want to plant ) were out of control.  I have been trying to work on these beds a bit each morning now.  I also had some containers and one was horribly cracked. I emptied its soil into a bed and put it and another little pot next to the fence on the other side of the yard…intending to put it into the garbage cans later.

Koopa, my youngest sons dog was outside later on barking like crazy!  At these pots! And jumping back and shaking all over as if they might come alive and move on him! I was just cracking up…ran in for my phone…

I must admit that I have not been visiting blogs in the last week or so in the way that I usually do…it seems that when I get onto the Internet and the news that I just get caught up in the news cycle ….the political stories of the last week just hit one after another after another. I am so tired of it.

It seems as if this president has been here for 1000  years versus 100+ days, lol. And listening to him in a press conference with the Columbian president saying Cocoa versus Coca over and over again…last month he could not pronounce Nazi ….( He said Nah-Zee over and over again )  I just cringe. I am so embarrassed for this country. Granted most voters felt that we did not have a good choice either way…but this is the result now.

Well, hand-quilting is calming and thank goodness that I have a quilt project that soothes me. Stitch by stitch when I sit down with it the news drops away a bit…

I finished up one block, then another and have moved on to a third this week.
