Moving Forward on the Baby Quilt and Starflowers

After the extended period of bitterly cold temperatures we had a warm up.  There was quite a lot of snow and ice to melt, but most of it is gone now.  Monday, January 22  went up to 60 degrees and completed the job.

Everthing is a muddy mess.  Kind of like the political climate the last few days with the government shutdown :) Glad they got it resolved for the time being…

There are three dogs here so after cleaning up “What Lies Beneath” all of that snow ( Ugh ; almost 2 weeks worth ) I managed to negotiate the muddy spots and hang the baby quilt on the line for a photo  since I finished up the second border of applique.

I decided to make the top and bottom borders all sailboats if I can come up with enough variety in their colors, etc.   On Saturday my youngest son and I took a road trip with his friend to look at a used car and I sat in the back seat of the friends SUV with some sewing. I managed to finish most of that little red dog in the photo above and then realized that I had forgotten to bring more red thread.

Out came the other project and since I’ve been trying to keep up with the connector pieces these three blue starflowers are all sewn together.  Also in the collage is a little sailboat in progress for the baby quilt:

The Starflowers are BLUE for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge Color of the Month.  Visit So Scrappy on Saturdays to see what others are up to :)

Then if you would like a laugh, my DIL posted a photo on Facebook a few days ago which I took and cropped and edited a bit. I think that the twins were ready for bed and snuggled up to my son who conked out and she wondered where SHE was going to sleep that night?   But the look on one of the girls’ face as well as Merle’s when Mom turned on the light had me laughing :)

The weather forecast for tonight is 100 percent rain to add on to my muddy mess here :)
