Finish-a-Long 2018

Because I hand quilt and most of my projects are hand work I don’t anticipate many quick finishes but I know that I’ll at least finish one thing this quarter so …….

The Basics of the FAL

“The FAL is a low pressure community event that allows you to make a list of projects that have already been started but not finished and thus are hanging about in your sewing room as UFOs. The list is linked up at the beginning of a quarter and then at the end of the quarter you link up a link for each item on your list that you finished. Each link is an entry into the random draw for great prizes sponsored by our generous sponsors.”

I am going to enter this Botanical Quilt Top.  This couch sized top, hand appliqued, was finished in February of last year.   These are a few blocks from a larger project.  ( see my post The Shenandoah Valley Botanical Album Quilt : A Beautiful History )

I am currently in the process of hand quilting it.

It went into the hoop towards the end of August or beginning of September. A few progress shots along the way :

I am now working on quilting the last block.

After that, the border needs quilting and then I will bind it.

We have some dear friends that just got engaged and plan to marry this summer and I gave them the choice of this quilt, yet to be finished, or the Scrappy Granny that I’d finished prior to this. They chose this one.

I am pretty sure that I can finish this up by the end of the quarter and enter it in to the FAL to have a chance at the prizes :)
