Snowing and Sewing ( Flower Basket Medallion Borders Progress )

A few days ago we had our first *real* snow as it covered the grass. It warmed up a bit, there was a wintry mix and some rain and it was gone.

On Tuesday afternoon more arrived and this time we received a good 3-4 inches ; the heavy wet snow. Here is the view from my kitchen window late afternoon as it was falling:

AND here is a collage of photos from the middle of the night…I’d had trouble sleeping, decided to get up for awhile…see how light it all looks around 2:30 a.m. ( No flash, and the moon not visible; hidden by clouds )

Even if the moon was hidden, it reminded me of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” with the moon abreast on the new fallen snow…

How pretty the crabapple tree was the next day, adorned with snow and ice and the sunshine highlighting it all…

As to sewing, here is Flower Basket Medallion borders progress :   While it does not look as if I did very much since I last showed the beginning of this, I sewed down all of the stems on both border pieces. So boring :)

I prepped enough circles to start,  as well as some leaves. Oh and the birds as well :) It’s a start…I actually just threw this off of the porch into the snow for a natural light shot while I was out there anyway!

We are in for a cold spell tonight and tomorrow as many of you are… I think it is to go down to around 7 degrees and not much warmer tomorrow. Well, it’s winter :)

I am not sure if I’ll post any more prior to Christmas…my oldest will be coming in next week and there’s cleaning and baking and what-have-you. So just in case I do not, ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ !

GREAT shots, Deb!!! Love the trees. Our weather is about the same as yours. I am NOT a fan of these temps at all.
Your quilt is progressing nicely…it’s that little putzy work that seems to take forever.
I hope you have a wonderful, blessed Christmas. xo Diana

oh how pretty the snow is – the first snows are always so nice to get and then by March you are ready to scream at it. Applique designing as you go takes awhile – enjoy and if you are not back on have a really good visit with your son and family for Christmas

Merry Christmas to you, too, Debra dear! Enjoy your fun, happy family over the season-to-be-jolly!
I’m Christmas-busy, too, but now that I’ve revived work on my hand quilting, I have that to pick up in between bursts of baking, cleaning, and wrapping energy. I’ll never catch up to you in productivity, but at least I might finish the current quilt before the end of next year!

  7. Have yourself a Merry Christmas as well and enjoy all those grown up boys of yours. :-) It is going to drop to -17 wind chill tonight. It’s 0 right now.

Can’t help looking at the snow. As you are in our prior area, it’s nice to look at but don’t want to shovel anymore. Really enjoy your blog and pictures. Do miss the fall down here in sunny Florida. Our leaves have just changed. Warm here but still using the quilts.
