Slice of Life early August

A quick slice of life post :)

I still want to keep on with a blogging break somewhat since I’ve not been sewing since the cat died ( on a reading binge though ) but thought to do a quick post and then get around to visiting people again :)

I am pleased to have harvested a few tomatoes ( enough for me and my family down the street ) and here are a few of the blooms around here right now…

It was not too long ago that I had posted about my middle son and family going away on vacation to the beach, and I had their dog Merle here.  Now the youngest son is away and I have Koopa, his pit bull.  I Googled something akin to “indestructible pit bull chew toys” and came up with this due to rave reviews on Amazon.

SO if any of you have a major chewer who can kill a Kong toy…I recommend this along with the others :)   GOUGHNUTS stick or ball ( I ordered the stick )

We throw it on the porch, out in the yard, and when I took him down to my sons  to play with Merle today while I was babysitting the kids, it survived tug of war and more.

Meanwhile I had my marching orders when I went down there. One of the twins ( 1st grade and still practicing her writing ) had left me a letter asking that I would make them pancakes. She had the box mix out, syrup, and even the measuring spoons. Hilarious! :)

And her mama is so organized. Here is a photo from the other day….their five and five more friends that she was babysitting that day off to see a movie at a local community event.

Later on, while 2 children went back to their parents, the rest showed up here, and we took their dog Merle and my youngest sons Koopa for a 5 block walk down to the fields behind the American Legion to run and play :)

And then for history: I think that this tweet by Trump this morning will match the Lester Holt interview so I want to record it :)

Trump on Twitter > “Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics – and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!”

LOL no it is not legal and we all know that you DID know about it :)

glad to see you blog again even if you are mainly taking a break – I will be taking some breaks myself soon – enforced as I know when we travel west I do not always have a good phone signal so I can have my internet for blogging – looks like you have been having a good summer – sorry the cat died :(

Hello, your flowers are so pretty. I am sorry I did not plant tomatoes this year. Merle look like he is enjoying his chew toy. Cute photo of the kiddies. Enjoy the rest of your break. Have a happy day and new week!

I must have missed it. What did the cat die of.? As you may know, my Missy is 15 and I have not known how long she will live.

    Very nice photos!

Summer is such a wonderful time. Glad you’re enjoying yours

I always enjoy seeing pictures of your darling family! And the dogs! And the flowers!
As for Trump’s tweet – a big LOL! I have always used advice given me by the principal of the high school I taught at. She said the liars change their stories. That caution has never failed me whether I was cornering students who cheated on a test or smoked pot in the bathrooms! And now this – 1) whatcha talkin’ about? no Tower meeting happened! 2) well, okay, there WAS one but we talked about adoption – nothing-burger! 3) well, maybe we did meet and maybe we did go for dirt on Hillary but nothing came of it 4) yeah, well maybe some stuff DID come of it but it’s not a crime….blah blah blah – we’re not stupid! Do the math, everybody! So sick of that liar!

  6. Your flowers are beautiful, as always. :-) Great shot of the grandkids x2. Bravo to your DIL for basically taking half a classroom of kids to the movies. She’s a brave woman. :-)

Thank you. It’s difficult to think we’re politicizing our blogs but then I remember Martin Niemoller’s quote. If we don’t speak up now we will surely regret it later.

  8. Debra says:

Your flowers look beautiful. Are you getting a lot of rain this summer? I know some areas are but here in Rhode Island we’ve hardly had any.

Trump keeps having fits & meltdowns on Twitter – hope it makes him feel better in the moment
because in the long run many of his statements are admissions of his own wrong doing.

I always enjoy your flower, your granddogs antics and your sweet grands. I’m glad you’re back. It won’t be long until you feel like sewing again.

While you are reading, don’t forget “Prayers for Sale” by Sandra Dallas!! I’ll just keep mentioning it!! Also, “Can’t Wait to get to Heaven” by Fannie Flagg!!
Glad to see you back. It all takes time to gather your thoughts and catch your breath following such a loss. So hard. And ugh, blergh, and ewww to anything re: the fake pres. But, as someone else said, shame on us when we DON’T speak up. That is not the answer, either. I will say it again….. I am reading a WWII book currently and the similarities to the rise of Hitler are uncanny. Keep telling the lies over and over and soon the complacency will have them all become believers. It is horrific.

Chris I will see if the local library has them yes :)

    • debralynnpugh says:

Chris I have them written down to check at the little library that is local to us, yes thanks :) I was re-reading an old D.E Stevenson book “English Air” ( I have collected her used books over the years ) and was struck by the same thing…the sheep following the Leader was mentioned in the book

Love catching up with you and you do it without rambling on like me! I’m sorry about your kitty, I missed the post. Merle is so cute. My daughter has a dog like him, loves to chew on thongs but they are devoured in 5 minutes. I’ll pass this on.

Love seeing your flowers, grands, and thoughts on POTUS. He certainly loved his verbs.

  12. Kim says:

Sounds like a lovely break. I have been away from the computer myself. No reading or writing. Trying to catch up a bit now…

  13. gmail login says:

very good. Thank you for sharing!

  14. Yes, loved reading your summer catch up. They are lucky to have such a kind dog sitting mom, but you’re like me, love the mutts.
I liked seeing your flower roundup too. Such prettiness.
As for this very different president, flabbergasted and aghast and nervous too.

  15. Melanie says:

I’m behind on blogging, too…writing and reading – summer is busy! Nice to see your slice of life even though you’re on a break. Hope you’re enjoying your summer!
