Several months ago when I was in JoAnn Fabrics, I fell in love with a Jacobean style fabric. Trouble was, I was just running in there for something small, not a big fabric purchase. I was also there on a lunch break from work and couldn’t stay long. I shouldn’t have even been looking at the fabrics.
In my mind I could see this fabric as draperies in a large formal dining room. As I fingered the fabric lovingly, I wanted the large dining room, the house to go with it, and myriad yards of the fabric.
In the end I purchased one yard and figured that in late summer or fall I’d do something with it when I had some other projects cleared out of the way.
Since then I have looked at the fabric and thought about those draperies. I think that in the end it is good that I could not afford to buy yards and yards of the fabric because I probably would have tired of it at my windows. It’s the same debate that I have had going on in my mind about adding some color to a wall or two in my living room. I see rooms with color on the walls and I am attracted to them. But I have to consider that I have a long narrow living room and most likely color on the walls will make it appear smaller. And that I have sheers on my windows to let in natural light …which helps the room to appear to be larger.
So in the end, this Jacobean fabric is being used for two pillow covers in the living room. One is done…
The other is a W.I.P.
