Met my January Hand Quilting OMG ( one monthly goal )

Heidi at Red Letter Quilts is hosting a OMG link up each month. The gist of it is that you link up with a monthly goal at the beginning of the month and if you met the goal, you link up at month’s end.

My goal for January was to finish outlining the applique on this quilt block and to move on and complete the cross-hatch quilting.

This is hand-quilted and going slowly but due to setting this goal publicly I hit it and will be linking up:)

Your hand quilting project looks lovely! Congratulations on meeting the January goal. I’ve enjoyed reading your house-history posts — I grew up in postwar suburban “starter” houses but of the seven houses I’ve lived in as an adult, four were early 20th-century bungalows (Kansas, Maine, and North Dakota).

Congratulations! That block is my favorite among everything you’re working on now! The crosshatching makes the block really rich in texture. Beautiful colors, too!

  9. Your quilting skills always amazes me! I think hand quilting must be sooo much harder than knitting. I’m working on a sweater and making good progress. I still have 5 quilts I need to start working on! Beautiful.

  10. Congrats, and once again I am in awe of your hand quilting skills. Do you draw any kind of pattern before you start on the open areas or do you just eye ball it? It is truly lovely.

Judy for this one, first I’d drawn feathers and butterflies etc and quilted them in all four blocks. Then as to each individual block, the applique gets outlined then I brought out a yardstick and drew a 2 inch grid. Because these blocks are so large and in your face, I thought to start with two inch and see if that worked and I think it does.

  11. It is incredibly beautiful!
