Little Baskets : RSC September Color is Orange

When I had done my sewing review post, in regards to progress and finishes for the first 2/3 of the year,  I had counted up 31 Little Baskets thus far, following the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month.

However when I sorted through them, I realized that 7  of them still needed circles to be sewn on, so I caught up with that in the past week.

The RSC September color is orange.

While I could eat a bazillion of these orange cheese balls ( thank goodness that big jar is not here; the DIL texted this photo as a joke )

and while I have lots of orange flowers…

I don’t have much orange in my fabric stash.  I thought to just use some peach shades that I did have.

I hope that your Labor Day weekend was a good one.  My youngest son came in from the place he rents out in the country to stay for the weekend. His roommate’s family have a farm, and two farmhouses…family were coming in from out of state for a big reunion so he just got out of their way :)

While his dog Koopa, who is two years old now still runs around the yard like crazy and jumps super-high at the crabapple tree….like this collage that I posted in June….

He does have his quieter, calmer moments.

Here, he just cracked me up as he totally rearranged the pillows on the loveseat for his convenience.

There’s been lots of good food this weekend…my garden tomatoes ( the DIL grilled them with zucchini, onions, etc. to toss with quinoa )  and fresh fruit smoothies, and pancakes and bacon for breakfast, and eating too much potato salad :)  Did you you have a nice Labor Day weekend?

Here’s wishing you a good week. I need to cut out some new templates for an Airship Propeller block ( the current freezer paper ones are pretty shabby ) and decide on another Elizabeth’s Pride block. And there is lots of yard work coming up down the line…

the baskets are coming along pretty well aren’t they. Love those expressions on the twins – they break you up I bet.

  2. Deb says:

Too funny on the cheese balls! Those things are addictive! I had to add orange when I started the RSC Challenge – I had none in my stash! I just hope I have enough to do a round of orange on my trip quilt.

Hello Deb, your basket blocks are so pretty. I had a laugh over the cheese balls and the pup jumping up to the tree. He is cute laying on the pillows. The grilled veggies sound yummy. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!

    Lookin good!

  5. Kyle says:

Love your sweet baskets. The orange color of the cheese balls just wouldn’t have fit with the other blocks. Glad you went to the peachy side of orange.

  6. Lea says:

I have a weakness for those cheeseballs. I don’t buy them because it’s hard for me to control myself.

Koopa is as adorable as ever. I love that face.

Lea after the DIL sent that cheeseballs photo within hours I had to run to the local dollar store and buy a small 1.00 bag of them to get it out of my system, lol. I still have some left so I practiced a WEE bit of restraint :)

My weekend was spent flat on the couch with a sore throat, chills, and a back ache. I was surprised to hear that many others, of all ages, all over the country, were suffering with the same thing! Feeling better today, though!
LOL on those giant jars of cheese balls! I’ve bought the jumbo jar before – several years ago – and am probably still carrying the calories from them!
The kids, the dog, your little baskets – everything so darn CUTE!

  8. Joanna says:

Love the pictures of the quilt blocks, the grands, the pup, but the orange flowers are my favorite. Happy you had a good holiday. I did too. Family is a blessing.

  9. Susan says:

Cheese balls! YUM! Basket blocks! YUM! LOL Your flowers are so beautiful.

  10. I really like your peach baskets, and think I will make some of my blocks from that color this month, too. The girls with the cheese balls gave me a good chuckle, too! Have a great week!

  11. Angela says:

Great job getting those baskets finished off. That is a lot of orange cheese balls — glad they didn’t make it home

  12. Kim says:

Cute baskets, Deb! I love the pattern. :)

  13. Sounds like you had a marvelous long family weekend with some good eats. Love the baskets. :-)

  14. Susanne says:

One of my first-graders wrote I love cheese balls! in her journal this week :) It was free-choice topic day.

  15. Angela says:

Love that recipe for applesauce! Sounds perfect. Irma is probably headed more toward the west coast than previously predicted, better for me, but worse for Deb. We are all prepared to wait it out. Hoping for the best, but ready for the worst.

I love your sweet little baskets, though I’m baffled by a lack of orange in a stash… 8)
The cheeseball picture is cracking me up. And making me want cheeseballs.

  18. You are lucky you don’t have orange dust all over the house. I don’t know what those little circles on the baskets represent, or maybe just part of the pattern. The peach was a good choice.

  19. Angie says:

Love all the baskets AND the great orange fun photos!

  20. Kate says:

Your baskets are looking lovely. Sounds like you had a wonderful family weekend. The daughter likes those cheeseballs, I don’t like the orange fingers after eating them. She says that’s why they are fun.
