“Ring the bells that still can ring,
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in.”
_Leonard Cohen in Stranger Music
There’s a whole wonderful philosophy right there, Debra. I wasn’t even familiar with Cohen or this powerful song until I read Louise Penny’s book. Then I added him to my favorite music.
Of course your photograph is marvelous! And I needed a reminder of the meaning of these words, and to give myself permission to apply them to my own life.
Amazing, the way you have captured the light is just gorgeous.
What a lovely thought! And who could put it better than the man himself.
Stunning photography and beautiful sentiment…
I love the work of Leonard Cohen. His sensitivity and mastery of language is haunting. Your photo – like every other one you show here – is your signature too; a worthy combination of gentleness and striking composition.
Love that….that’s how the light gets in. I’m definitely cracked so I should be shining…..grin. Lovely photo.
Great picture — you captured the light on the water perfectly!
Isn’t that just totally true….. if we live our lives trying to achieve perfection, we will miss out on so much. One of my fav quotes: “If you look for perfection, you’ll never be content.”
― Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina
Chris you are so right!
Wow, that is a gorgeous photo! Love the song lyrics, too.
Enjoy today because tomorrow may not come around. :-) Happy weekend, friend.
But that photo IS a perfect offering! Thanks for sharing it.
