Fall’s Glory : Scenic Shots from Southwestern Pennsylvania

Fall’s Glory :

I thought to show you some pretty scenic shots from Southwestern Pennsylvania, where I am from.

First of all, not too far from here are two covered bridges in in Mingo Park. They are at either end of the park and here are a few photos of one of them.

A dam on the way towards my mom’s place, where I grew up:

Autumn around here is just approaching the height of its beauty and then all too soon it will be over once again. Quite often the peak is mid-October but it is later this year in my location.

Right now while the morning temperatures are cold, the afternoons are a bit warmer, though breeze is tinged with a chill and the ground doesn’t seem to really warm up. All around outdoors is the sweet scent of fallen leaves, though they have just begun to fall; most of the trees are still in full foliage.

I have to admit that these pictures make me yearn for home, several of them look like they could be this West Virginia’s girls old stomping grounds – lovely!

    Greetings from Germany!

  22. Suzan says:

What gorgeous photos – – that picture of the view from inside the bridge looking out just melted my heart!
Fall is late arriving here in Montreal also – I’m not complaining because winter comes too quickly after that lol

  23. Stephie says:

Fab photos as ever Deb – I really love the one with the cow in the foreground. We don’t have covered bridges here, so they’re very quirky and curious to us I think! I had a friend who was so taken by them that she made one (full size!) as part of an art installation – mad as a hatter! Is there any particular reason that they were covered? We do have some very old stone bridges with buildings on them though, shops and the like! Bath has a very beautiful one :)

  24. I have a weakness for covered bridges. Maybe that’s why Bridges of Madison County is one of my favorite movies…or maybe it’s just Clint Eastwood ;).

Like your area some trees are completely bare here, but there are still many that are stunning. Love the cow Debra!

  25. Susan says:

    So absolutely beautiful!

  26. Amy says:

What a beautiful place to live, Deb! Absolutely breath-taking shots. We are just approaching foliage peak around here.

  27. I love, love, love covered bridges. I remember my father taking us for a drive in the fall and always by a particular covered bridge. My husband and I have visited many of them over the years. I like grist mills too. The best sight is a location with both a covered bridge and a grist mill.
