RSC Blend Blocks, Applique & Hand Quilting

I didn’t think that I’d post again prior to Easter but I’ve been playing catch-up with some blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

I never got around to the purple Blend blocks for February so I made them this month, as well as two green ones, which is March’s color, and this applique block for the ‘Dear Daughter’ project is almost entirely green, so I am including it as well :)

I hope to get another green Blend block sewn over the weekend, as I wanted to try to make 3 per month.

As to hand quilting on the Rose of Sharon, I’ve made some more progress. I usually will echo quilt around applique and then fill in the background with cross hatch, etc. but in this case I am having fun with the Baptist fan stencil from Fun with Barb.

I am using colored thread to go through the larger flowers and leaves :

Progress shots from two angles :

If you wanted to hunt Easter eggs around our area this weekend you’d find them buried in the mud. It has rained all week and there was more this morning.  It is so slimy, slippery and squishy out there that you literally have to watch your footing.  I think we are to have sunshine for Easter Sunday though :) Have a happy one !
