A wonderful day for my dog Lily

I have two dogs and a cat. Lily, one of the dogs, used to belong to my neighbors, and I took her in when they had to move / transfer and could not take her with them. Last summer the dad and son came back to visit and just a few short weeks ago I got a surprise visit from the son before he left to be stationed in Alaska. ( Airforce )

The family has been in Alabama for the last two years, and they will be transferring to Utah at the end of May, so the mom and daughter came back this week to visit friends and neighbors and then drive on up to Erie, Pa. to visit relatives.

What a nice reunion they had with Lily, who was so excited to see them! : )

Lily is the sweetest dog…it was hard for them to leave her.

It was so much fun to see their joy in one another.

When they return from Erie, they’ll be back for one more day to visit and play with Lily.  On this day it was very cold…we are hoping for a warm-up by Friday and a nice long walk around the neighborhood.

This young man and his sister were young children when I first moved to this neighborhood and I can say that this family was one of the best neighbors that anyone could have. It was very hard to see them go. We keep in touch via Facebook but how nice to have them physically return now and again. And as to Lily, she had a very fine day! :)

I’m wondering where you live, or is that something you prefer to keep private?

I just discovered the answer to my question–Pennsylvania!

I know your friends must be so thankful that Lily is living with someone as nice as you! You are big hearted to take her in, although I would have melted seeing those big beautiful eyes, too. Great pictures of her first family!

  12. Oh my gosh!!! Talk about a win/win/win situation for everyone – sweet Lily, her former owners, and you! Lily is in a home where she is cherished, her former owners have the peace of mind that she is in a good home being loved to pieces, and you get to enjoy Lily every day! I loved this story and you are a hero to that family, and to Lily, for sure!!!!
